Woods Foodservice was born out of two different companies in the Swinging Sixties.
Woods Table Dainties and Winton Smith were both well known throughout London supplying fine foods to restaurants and event caterers alike.

Woods Table Dainties was acquired by Winton Smith and then decided to relocate to Cambridge shortly after. Winton Smith offered one of Woods Table Dainties’ Sales Executives, Alfred Labbett, a franchise for the London area which he duly took. Alfred eventually bought the franchise creating his own company, Woods Caterfoods. Alfred set about increasing the companies profile in London and surrounding areas.

As the business continued to grow, Alfred brought on board his son Richard, who had owned a chain of greengrocers. Richard was appointed Sales Director and began bringing in new customers on a daily basis.

By 1982 Richard took over. Woods continued to grow throughout the 1980s and witnessed the birth of the ‘Gastro Pub’ something which caused a steady rise in customers wanting finer foods and quality service. Woods Caterfoods supplied among many others, Regents Inn’s from their birth including their flagship Gastro pub ‘The Firestation’.

Darren Labbett became the third generation of Labbett to work for and in 2000 eventually became Managing Director of Woods Caterfoods. Darren immediately rebranded the company which included changing the name to Woods Foodservice.

Through providing their customers fine foods matched with exceptional service, Woods can now boast an impressive client list of some of the best Restaurants and Event Caterers in London including TV Chefs and Michelin rated establishments.

In 2007 Darren again re branded Woods Foodservice, with a new logo, uniform and brand new fleet of Mercedes vans.

In 40 years Woods Foodservice has seen many changes in the industry. By keeping the firm family values of exceptional products delivered with outstanding service, Woods Foodservice continues to grow and maintain their place as the wise choice for your dry stores needs.
